Tonight I had the amazing opportunity to go to my second fireside with Sister Dalton. With both firesides I have been so close to the front but I've never met her! :( One day!
It's honestly a tender mercy how I was 'invited' to her fireside. I ran into a lady I know at the pumpkin walk, she thought I was in her stake (she's the stake YW president) and she asked if she would see me there. We were both quite confused for a moment then we figured it out and she told me I was invited anyways! :) I figured I would go, I mean it is Sister Dalton! So I went...and took a friend. To be honest for the 45 minutes we sat there (we got there early so we'd have good seats:), it was quite awkward as we saw many girls who knew we weren't in their stake. Oh well, we were invited by the person who organized the fireside! :) The awkwardness was definitely worth it, Sister Dalton was an answer to my prayers!
She is so cute, she was just herself and was making jokes etc. The spirit was so strong in the chapel, luckily I didn't faint. ;) hahah, JK. She talked about a lot of different things, but one thing that stuck out to me was her 'Spiritual Workout.' She told us four different things we must be doing every day, consistently and with real intent, so that we can be in the best shape possible. (1) Pray. (2) Read the Book of Mormon. (3) Obey. (4) SMILE. I'm going to do better at that so I can be the best I possibly can be!!
Another thing she talked about was serving a mission. I'm sure she didn't know she had college students in the audience, but what she said was perfect. Let me give you a little background....All of my life I have said I was going to serve a mission. I always meant that, as well. I always was planning on it and I never imagined myself not serving. Then I realized I hadn't ever asked Heavenly Father His will for me and what He wanted me to do. The hardest part though is I feel like if I don't serve I will be letting people down. There wasn't anything specific that she said, just when she was talking I felt the spirit so strongly and I felt as it told me not to worry about the future (or what others would think), He does have a plan for me and as I trust in Him everything will work out for the best.
My friends and I really wanted to go up and shake her hand, but the lines came out of no where and we would have been there for three more hours. So, we decided to do the next best thing: write her a note and put it on her car! :) haha, when we got there we saw that there was a reserved spot so we knew where she was parked. I'm sure she wonders how we knew where she parked! :) It was just a wonderful night!
I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and am so grateful for it's truthfulness! I'm so grateful for the testimony I have and I want to share it with everyone! I know it is true and I know that God is real. Jesus Christ lives and He will come again.
This is one of my favorite pictures, He is beconing for us to come unto Him. I can't wait for the day when I meet Him, what a glorious day that will be! We are precious in His sight.
