Happy Birthdays!!

Yay! I love birthdays. :)
This past month my two best friends both celebrated their birthdays. Amber turned 17 on the 12th...
 This is Amber on her actual birthday...we went to Costa Vida for lunch (yeah...we skipped school for like the first time!:). It was so delicious! After school we went to Taya's house to have a ten minute party...this is her beautiful cake! :) haha.
...and Taya turned 16 on the 20th.
Taya and I :)
We had a little conjoined birthday party for them this past weekend, we went to City Creek and went shopping. The weather was so nice and it felt so good to take in the sunshine, while shopping! :) I'm missing that sun right now, I am defiantly not enjoying this snow. Anyways, it was a fun day spent together! I'm sure grateful for such great friends and examples in my life.

I have a new favorite hymn...
'Come Unto Him'
page 114
1. I wander through the still of night,
When solitude is ev'rywhere—
Alone, beneath the starry light,
And yet I know that God is there.
I kneel upon the grass and pray;
An answer comes without a voice.
It takes my burden all away
And makes my aching heart rejoice.
2. When I am filled with strong desire
And ask a boon of him, I see
No miracle of living fire,
But what I ask flows into me.
And when the tempest rages high
I feel no arm around me thrust,
But ev'ry storm goes rolling by
When I repose in him my trust.
3. It matters not what may befall,
What threat'ning hand hangs over me;
He is my rampart through it all,
My refuge from mine enemy.
Come unto him all ye depressed,
Ye erring souls whose eyes are dim,
Ye weary ones who long for rest.
Come unto him! Come unto him!
Text: Theodore E. Curtis, 1872-1957
Music: Hugh W. Dougall, 1872-1963

I bolded what I love the very most, but overall I can easily say it's my new favorite! I hadn't ever sung it before this week...we sang it in seminary to the tune of 'I know that my Redeemer Lives.' It was beautiful. Although at times it may appear that I'm alone, I know that God is there with me. Always. I might not always feel His arm around me, but when I put my trust and faith in His plan, everything works out. He is my 'rampart' through everything I face daily. Truly my 'refuge.'
Come unto Him! As I have strived to become more like Him and closer to Him my life has been changed. Only for the better; I continue to learn more about myself and that with Him, I can do anything.

I tried to put a Mormon Message on this post but was unsuccessful for some reason. If you haven't seen Mountains to Climb (by President Eyring), go watch it. It's a must! I love it so much, I don't know if it's just because I can so easily connect with what he's speaking on and testifying about or what, but it has such a great message and spirit.
